It's generally a requirement of holding a Student visa that you purchase Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) to cover the full period of your visa. Your student visa can be granted up to the maximum duration outlined in the table below - use this information as a guide to the length of cover you require.

The below is a guideline to the OSHC duration you may require for your course based on the course end date and the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) student visa grant periods. It's your responsibility to ensure the policy you purchase suits your individual circumstances.

Course duration:	10 months or less
Visa end duration:	Course duration + 1 month
Visa end date:	Course end date + 1 month

Course duration:	Longer than 10 months
Visa end duration:	Course duration + 2 months
Visa end date:	Course end date + 2 months

Course duration:	Longer than 10 months and finishing in November or December
Visa end duration:	Visa usually granted up to 15 March of the following year
Visa end date:	15 March of the year after course completion

Course Duration	Add to your course end date
10 months or less	1 Month
Over 10 month ending January to October	2 Months
Over 10 months ending November to December	Select 15th March next year

Note: Postgraduate research students should add an additional 6 months to the above end dates.
